Outline itinerary
The itinerary will be led by our friend and amazing tour guide Dilan who knows just about everything about Sri Lanka. Dilan brings the country to life with insights and experiences you just wouldn’t get travelling on your own. Optional activities are noted below at approximate US dollars per person. You can decide when you arrive.
Tour is hop on / hop off and we will have a big bus (30 seater) and a little bus ( 8 seater) for your comfort and entertainment, picking up guests on the Sri Lankan flight arriving Sat 18th and the Emirates flight on Mon 20th (see "arrivals" page). We'll arrange for separate cars to meet and transport guests arriving and departing on other flights.
Colombo (18-20 Nov)
Sat 18th - airport to Colombo (1hour) guests check-in to either Taru Villas or Galle Face
Sun 19th - 10am bus tour of Colombo, lunch barefoot cafe ($20) back to hotels around 1530. Sorry Kevin, Bob and Mike - you may miss tour whilst we're fine tuning your Kandy King outfits that morning.
Evening introductions and snacks at Galle Face - note new start time of 1800-2100
Cultural triangle (20-22 Nov)
Mon 20th 0830 checkout and bus to Dambulla (3h) - Taru Villas Maia or Roo Mansala hotel.
Tiny bus picking up Mon arrivals and taking to Dambulla, Roo Mansala hotel
Afternoon climb up Lion Rock ($30) 1500-1900 - not to be missed.
Tue 21st 0830 sightseeing UNESCO ancient city ($25), lunch at Farmers house ($15).
1500: elephant safari ($50)
Wed 22nd sunrise climb Pidurangala ($5), Dambulla caves ($10) then transfer to Kandalama Hotel
Wedding (22-23 Nov)
0500 on 22nd (if you're brave) Climb up Piduranga for sunrise. 1000 Dambulla caves. check in Kandalama 1400. Drop off your drinks to Nick's room. Cricket Sri Lanka v England 1600.
Wedding ceremony starts at 4pm on 23rd and runs to midnight - traditional Kandian dress, food drinks, band and dancing
Kandy (24-25 Nov)
1130 Fri 24th checkout and drive to Amaya Hills hotel Kandy (3h), ayuverdic massage ($50)
Sat 25th 0830 temple of the tooth ($10) then elephant sanctuary ($50)
Hill Country (26-28 Nov)
Sun 26th 0830 checkout, then onto botanical gardens and drive to Heritage Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya (3h). Lunch at the golf club, checkin to hotel and stroll around the Lake.
Mon 27th 0900 tour of Pedro estate tea factory, then train ($20) to Ella and on to hotels 98 Acre Resort Ella (3h)
Tue 28th 0830 nine arches TukTuk trip ($10), 1400 Ravana Pool Club and zip wire ($30)
The Beach (29 Nov -1 Dec)
Wed 29th 0830 Little Adams Peak,check out 1000 and on to Welligama W15 resort (3h), then afternoon surfing ($5) and Doctors House in the evening
Thu 30th Private boat for whale watching ($65)
Fri 1st drive to Fort Printers Hotel Galle (1h), shopping / relaxing and evening meal
Sat 2nd 0800 checkout and back to Colombo
